Seen from Devín Castle, the Danube curves between dark woodland and pale sandbanks. A single cargo vessel marks the open water with a thin wake while heavy clouds gather along the horizon.
The image is built from two kinds of movement: the deliberate progress of the vessel and the slower pressure of weather. Weather on the River holds both inside a landscape that appears still only at first glance.
