The image

A study in attention.

The panoramic view gathers the remaining walls of Devín Castle around the confluence where the Morava—known in German as the March—enters the Danube. A path crosses the dry interior, where a few small figures establish the immense scale of the site.

Water, farmland, forest, and cloud continue far beyond the masonry. The Long Bend allows the ruin to remain central without making it complete: the enduring subject is the terrain that holds it.
